Falling Into Mental Wellness

Summer is starting to wrap up. Schools are starting to reopen and we are slowly fading out of the summer season. This change brings a lot of mixed emotions. Most people are sad to see summer go. To some people, this signals the end of fun and a break. Some have a feeling of dread as we get closer to the colder months and less sunlight. However, some people like myself feel a sense of excitement as they enter a fresh start of structure and productivity. Whatever way you feel, it’s a good chance to regain insight on your mental wellness.

Summer is a fun time. People take vacations and spend time bonding with family and friends. There’s more sunlight and days are longer. People are also off schedules and lifestyles may change such as diet. These patters might feel good but can throw us off a bit. The Fall season gives us a sort of recharge. It helps us to get back in the rhythm we are used to.

Any season change brings positivities and challenges. As we approach the colder and dark months, it’s important to stay attuned to how our bodies are feeling and mindsets. What are we doing to prepare? This might look like a decluttering your space and putting away items related to summer. It might also be helpful to adapt a different workout routine or diet. As our schedules change, we can still find ways to socialize to match the season. Look at it as a reset.

I hope this helped gain some traction on preparing for the new part of the year. While we still have a few weeks of summer to enjoy, it’s important to stay mindful of how these transitions might impact us. Pay attention to how you’re feeling. The fun doesn’t have to end at the end of summer. We can develop a toolkit to help us navigate this and bring about some positive change!
